New Trend in Seating for Financial Institutions

We have had the pleasure of working with several financial institutions and have discovered a new trend in the seating requested by the CSR (Customer Service Representative) known to most as the Teller.  Rather than a typical fully upholstered, “task” stool with ergonomic features, many banks are changing to a backless, armless, pedestal base stool to act as a perch for the Teller.  Because of the nature of the job, the Teller finds that there is not a lot of time spent actually “sitting”.  In fact, many prefer to lean on a stool that has no adjustable features whatsoever.  Also, facilities personnel have noticed a tremendous amount of wear on the fabric of the “seat” of the stool because the Teller is constantly sliding in and out of the stool to service the customer.  This stool from Allermuir is a comfortable, pedestal base stool with pneumatic height adjustability and a wood, swivel seat.  No fabric seat pan to replace, no bulky stool to move out of the way.  This stool is currently being tested in the field and feedback has been very positive.

‘Baby Pentagon” Fort Custer Education Center now open!

The Fort Custer Education Center is a fabulous new facility, which just opened in Battle Creek, Michigan.  It is a training facility for the Michigan Army National Guard as well as Michigan police departments, the FBI and the State Police.  SPACE designed and furnished the interiors of this building that includes offices, training rooms, dining rooms and 246 guest rooms where the participants can stay for the full week.  It is Pentagon shaped with many cool features.

Time Capsule

U.S. General Service Administration and U.S. District Court installed a time capsule in the lobby of the Warren E. Burger Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in St. Paul, Minnesota. This building was also LEED Certified.

The time capsule will be opend in 2067 when St. Paul celebrates the building’s centennial.

Unfortunately the baby boomers of our generation will not be around to relish this opportunity but this is certainly something to spread the word about to the new generations.

U.S. General Service Administration announces an increase of sales for Small Business Contract holders from 32% to 34% in Fiscal Year 2007. In FY 2007, $13 billion were awarded to Small Business Contracts. This represents 37% of all prime contracting dollars.
