Versaflex - by InterfaceFLOR - Europe

Thursday Mar 25, 2010
InterfaceFLOR Introduces - Versaflex

Interesting concept from InterfaceFLOR Europe - ‘The Versaflex™ System is a new and unique flooring system. It is made up of three components; a grid, a grout and a completely interchangeable surface.  All of the system components come preassembled and ready to install’.  They estimate that the installation time is up to 6 six times faster than a standard tile installation.  No, I am not talking about just carpet tile - I am talking about ceramic/porcelain tiles.  The idea is to be able to create a flexible flooring surface which will allow the end user to easily change a carpeted surface to a hard surface as needed.

Is It Time To Replace Your Storage Options?

Wednesday Mar 24, 2010

V Series Storage has something for everyone to feel good about…

V Series makes everyone happy, from the person who champions high-quality to the one who sees only the bottom line. That combination of quality and savings makes sense for everyone.

Function

  • Standard side-to-side hanging bars and optional front-to-back hanging rails ensure maximum filing capacity and accommodate customer preferences.
  • Double-walled drawer fronts on the pedestal keep small items from getting lost in cracks.
  • Every drawer, including pedestal box drawers, has full extension, steel ball-bearing slides enabling complete drawer access and smooth operation.

Security and Safety

  • The rack-and-pinion lock mechanism ensures smooth, reliable operation.
  • The direct locking system engages the steel lock bars directly into the steel drawer body for optimum security.
  • For safety, the positive drawer interlock system allows only one drawer to be opened at a time.
  • Four adjustable floor glides provide 1 ½” of height adjustment, simplifying leveling on uneven surfaces.

Strength and Durability

  • Two new technologies-patented box-in-box construction used on the case of files and towers, and frame inserts used in the back of pedestals-promote durability and prevent racking.
  • Upper support is provided by an inner top constructed of one-piece, formed sheet.
  • The wear-resistant paint finish consists of a baked enamel coating applied over a rust-inhibiting treatment.

Choosing a Qualified Interior Designer for Your Office Interior

Sunday Mar 14, 2010

“The Professional Interior Designer is qualified by education, experience, and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces.”  That is the definition of an interior designer on the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) website.  It is a very important that you understand this definition before you select a designer for your office interiors.

  • Education.  Some universities have programs for interior design degrees.  In Michigan we have Western Michigan University, Michigan State and Central Michigan to name just a few.  In addition, some community colleges have associates degrees in interior design.  At SPACE we prefer our designers to have a four year degree and graduate in the top of their class.  We don’t hire anyone without a degree.
  • Experience.  As comprehensive as the interior design education can be you still want to make sure that you are getting a seasoned designer.  Ask to see his or her portfolio of work and ask for references.  Or, when you see an office interior that you particularly like ask the name of the designer.  Keep the information on file until you are ready to interview for your expansion, renovation or building project.
  • Examination.  Most people don’t know that there is a test that professional interior designers must pass before they can call themselves a professional interior designer.  It is called the NCIDQ.  Before a designer may apply to take the test he or she needs to have a four year degree and a minimum of two years or experience or a two year degree with a minimum of four years of experience. When a designer passes this test they are eligible to join either IIDA or the American Society of Interior Designer (ASID).  Look for the IIDA or ASID designation after their name on their business cards.  If you see this designation you will know that this designer has passed all of the examination requirements on the NCIDQ and is considered a professional interior designer.
